The National Weather Service in Bismarck, ND Office held a StormReady recognition ceremony for the United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck. UTTC is the first tribal college in the United States recognized as StormReady®.
The National Weather Service presented Joely Heavy Runner, UTTC Safety Director, and Dr. Russell Swagger, Vice President of Student and Campus Services, with StormReady® signs. A SKYWARN® training session immediately followed the ceremony.
StormReady®, a program started in 1999 in Tulsa, OK, helps arm America's communities with the communication and safety skills needed to save lives and property--before and during the event. StormReady helps community leaders and emergency managers strengthen local safety programs.
