BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) _ An appeals court has upheld the sentence of Texas man convicted in North Dakota for attempting to transport a minor for criminal sexual activity.
Rodney Goodwin, of Dallas, was sentenced in May 2012 to more than 10 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of contacting an underage girl via social media and the telephone and convincing her to run away.
Authorities say Goodwin was unable to arrange for a bus ticket for the girl to travel to Texas and she eventually returned home.
The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Goodwin's claim that a judge made a mistake by denying a motion to dismiss the case because of insufficient evidence.
